Casa Nicoletta is a typical lake Como house, directly on the water side, once it belonged to a fisherman family. It has a lovely terrace with unforgettable views. It is divided over 3 floors and is a spacious apartment simply but comfortable: living room with terrace for outside dining, 3 double bedrooms, large fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with tube. Separate shower box, washing machine. |

Lake Como is one of the prettiest lakes of northern Italy, conveniently close to Milan airports. It offers a lot for “ active” guests, such as sailing, surfing, hiking and biking, you start your walking tour right from your door step . But if you come for a rest: take the public ferry boat, visit the well known villages of Bellagio, Varenna, Menaggio with the gardens in villa Melzi, Balbianello, Carlotta; explore Como-city with a lively shopping centre around the Duomo , the twice a week market for “that” Italian bargain. Take the car up a winding road and stop at a view point, for sure nearby a small trattoria smells of a good pasta “ pizzocheri “ or a local fish dish “ misultin”. And why do not treat yourself at the villa d’Este in Cernobbio with a “chique “ aperitive or a meal at the golf club in Menaggio, where you might mix with the rich and the beautiful ( football players and movie stars).? |

The village is directly located on the lake side – once it was a fishers village- with two small harbours ( now only for pleasure boats) and some boat slips. it is very quiet as the main road skips the village , Carate has some restaurants ( one around the corner) , bank, post office, church, small supermarket, which we call a “ survival” shop , the extensive shopping you will go to the shopping mal at 4 km. There is a boat and a bus stop. Walk through the village and discover the old medieval centre with a lot of steps and narrow lanes, panoramic walking tracks with wonderful views over lake and mountains. Carate has no sandy beaches but some meadow-gravel strips for a dive an sunbathing. Beware that the water becomes immediately deep. Carate Urio is only 9 km from Como-city, ( train station ) , 4 km from Swiss border and 50 km from Milan . Thus appropriate also for guests who want to visit trade fairs, attend opera performances at the Scala, Formula UNO races in Monza. |

Fly to Milan airports ( 70 km) , Bergamo airport ( budget flights) Car: through Switzerland , Gotthard tunnel or San Bernardino tunnel Car from southern Italy: autostrada to Milan, exit Como nord . Carate Urio 10 km. Detailed routing will be supplied. |
